Classification of Instructional Programs
TRAIN uses the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes to classify vocational skills and programs in TRAIN. The Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes is a system used by secondary, postsecondary, and adult education institutions to categorize education programs and courses. The codes used in TRAIN are from the 1990 revision of the Department of Education's standard educational program classification system. Some codes used in TRAIN are not from the standard CIP code listing; these have been added by TRAIN staff to facilitate coding and to represent programs that do not fall easily into categories used by the Department of Education.
